Terroir
BOUZY
Bouzy is one of the original five Grand Cru Villages in Montagne de Reims. We have one hectare (2.47 acres) of vines in this Grand Cru village, whose reputation for exceptional grapes goes beyond the borders of Champagne country. 70% of the vines here are Pinot Noir and 30% are Chardonnay. The subsoil is a Upper Cretaceous layer and then a soil brown chalk mixture. Wines from Bouzy are highly regarded as refined, rich, and powerful. Grapes from these vines can be found in our Reserve wines and Rosé champagnes.
VILLERS ALLERAND
Classified as a Premier Cru village, Villers Allerand is where we have most of our vines – 4.5 hectares (11.12 acres), with 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Chardonnay vines. The subsoil contains an Upper Cretaceous layer followed by a Lower Eocene layer. The surface soils are very rich in clay here. Wines from this village are noted for their power and structure.
ECUEIL (Lower and Mid Slopes)
This Premier Cru village is where our estate is based. We have three hectares (7.41 acres) on 17 plots here. 65% of the vines are Pinot Noir and 35% are Chardonnay. The subsoil here is an Upper Cretaceous layer and a Lower & Middle Eocene layer, which is common with many parts of the Montagne de Reims. The ends of slopes contain sand, while the hillsides themselves are rich in clay. Ecueil wines contribute finesse during blending of our wines.
